Madakaripura

Madakaripura waterfall can be an additional destination when visiting East Java because it is only about 1.5 hours from the Bromo. There is a tale story that Gajah Mada, Prime Minister of Majapahit Empire who delivered an oath called Sumpah Palapa, often meditated here.

Welcome to Madakaripura, Gajah Mada statue

Taking the route Jakarta-Surabaya-Bromo, I took time to stop at Madakaripura waterfall, located in Lumbang, Probolinggo. No wonder this place was been Gajah Mada meditation place, it’s all because of the green and peaceful atmosphere.

Start from gate entrance and parking area, then I did a kind of trekking through the foot path and the river. Along the trekking, there were some rest places and sellers who sell various fried snacks, such as bakwan, tempe and banana fried. It was so nice to eat that snacks with a glass of warm drink like tea or coffee (nyam-nyam-sluurp).

After that, I arrived at the main area of the waterfall, what we called Madakaripura. The atmosphere was cool and peaceful. The waterfall sounded like melodious sound of nature. It made me linger to be here. The most interesting part of this attraction is a waterfall that flows like a curtain. Where I walked under the flow and feel the sensation of rain.

what I called “curtain waterfall”

Madakaripura waterfall is surrounded by high cliffs. It made me like being in a tube. I inhaled the fresh oxygen to refresh my body and mind. In addition, for photography lovers, Madakaripura is a place with natural objects which is quite interesting.

So, what are you waiting for?! Take your backpack and camera, then go to Madakaripura.. :)
